Make Your Own Automotive Fuel At Home

(Madison, IN)  Willie Nelson’s new book Farm Aid: A Song For America (Rodale Books, $35.00) tells how to fill up our cars, trucks and RVs on vegetable oil.  But be careful!  Willie’s advice will only work with diesel engine vehicles. Those of us who drive gasoline-fueled cars and want an alternative should read Forget The Gas Pumps—Make Your Own Fuel  (Marathon International Book Company, $12.95 postpaid) written by Jim Wortham. The book details how Wortham converted his car to run on alcohol and obtained a permit to distill moonshine at home for use as fuel. He has been promoting the use of alcohol fuel for gasoline-powered engines since the 1970s.  Wortham reports, “Alcohol can be produced from most crops and unlike gasoline, it burns clean in addition to being a less expensive source of fuel. In fact, it is such an attractive fuel that race cars at the Indy 500 use it.”
